International Art and Communication Symposium

Sempozyum Afiş

We are in the age of intertwined lives as a complementary derivative of instrumental convergence. The transabsolute integration that takes place in all fields of communication and art creates the conditions for our value and aesthetic judgments to undergo an eclectic transformation. While making this call for the second International Communication and Art Symposium (ILSANS), which we organized the first session online last September, we aim for a synthesis of ideas that will follow the traces of traditional aesthetics, trans-aesthetics, and meta-aesthetics. As a young and dynamic team, we would like to integrate the ideas we want to design on these issues with your thoughts and present another strong accumulation to the literature. Your participation in this meeting of thoughts and dreams, which we plan to hold online on June 18-19, 2022, will add value to our thoughts and dreams.

In the contemporary world, where an alternative and augmented reality-oriented virtual universe model branded under the name metaverse is enthusiastically welcomed as the “Velvet Revolution”, we have to think about the philosophy, ethics, and historicity of meta-communication and meta-art. At a time when the speed of technology surpasses that of humanity, we will have to pass a kind of cultural Turing Test that will perhaps prove that we are human for the first time. It is still not too late to say something traditional in the name of communication and art, at a time when talking about transitioning to a post-human or meta-human propositional state. The call for this symposium is open to all those interested in establishing any kind of academic and artistic connection between those that are traditional and futuristic. In summary, ILSANS 2 is open to all disciplinary, multi-disciplinary, post-disciplinary, or non-disciplinary communication, scientific and artistic perspectives that clash or synthesize, equate or unbalance, connect or break, similarize or differentiate the traditional with the new.

Although ILSANS 2 does not have any restrictive thematic framework, it will certainly devote a special concept to the meta-lives dimension. As in the first one, the general theme of the opening session, which will include competent and leading invited speakers from Turkey and the world, will be about “convergence, web 3.0 and the trans-aesthetics of the metaverse”.

While ILSANS 2 is committed to publishing the abstracts of scientific studies, whose application process to ILSANS 2 is completed, in the Abstract Booklet (with ISBN) and the full texts in the Symposium Proceedings Book (with ISBN). If requested, articles can also be considered for publication in the special issues of the International Journal of Communication and Art. For artistic manifestos, Booklet (with ISBN) and academic publication options are available upon request.

International Communication and Art Symposium include online solo and group exhibition designs for artworks in various concepts. Group exhibitions open to motion visualization, still visualization, and sound editing performances will be classified within the framework of art disciplines, concepts, and special interests. Possibilities for publishing a Catalog (with ISBN) for mixed exhibitions are open and the organizing committee is responsive to creative suggestions from participants.

For a personal exhibition, an application can be made with a minimum of 10 works, and the applications are evaluated by the exhibition evaluation board and the curator, and an opinion report is written. Solo exhibition applications that provide unanimity or majority vote in the report are included in the symposium publication program.

Workshop proposals that aim to keep the interactive labor tradition in the nature of communication and art alive can be included in the program if the planned process designs of the participants are evaluated/approved by the symposium organizing committee and the relevant field editors/reviewers.

ILSANS 2, which will include national and international participants who are competent in their fields, has been designed according to all academic promotion and associate professorship application criteria, except for academic incentive criteria. Every natural or legal person interested in the fields of communication and art, especially communication scholars and artists, is invited to the symposium.
